Visual Arts Wk12 & 13 - Character Design + Turnaround (Homework)

The hardest part about this drawing was the character design itself. I had made a number of concept of characters but none of them I liked so I just went with this design. The turnaround was a bit difficult since I had to repeatedly make the same character with different side positions but a good practice for drawing regardless. I used Photoshop so I can decide what combinations of colours worked best and picked the best one.

Visual Arts Wk12 - Muscle and Skeleton Drawing (Homework)

This was a complicated drawing however helpful for my understanding of drawing muscles. I decides to colour the muscle so I know which parts are part of the muscles.

Visual Arts Wk12 - Life Model Drawing Female 3 (Classwork)

Using Charcoal (Conte)

I still need practice on keeping space so the figures start to overlay the other. Also, I want to work on speeding up my drawing and to use composition. The clothing helped since I only had to draw the dress mostly.

Using Charcoal (Conte)

I huge improvement on my last drawings. I want to add more features to the face, hands and feet but all in all, I massive improvement on proportion and speed.

Using Watercolour and Marker

I didn't understand the idea of using the reds, blues and purples on the first figure however, later on in the drawing, I understood. While I was painting, the paint started to turn into a darker grey from the marker I was using. I want to keep working on watercolours and to not used structure lines on the face since to makes the face look like a mess.

Visual Arts Wk11 - Drawing Skull, Rib cage and Pelvis of a Skeleton (Homework)

Originally, I was very confused on where to start when drawing the skull, rib cage and pelvis of a skeleton so I used basic volume shaped structures in order to know where to start. I am still having trouble with the rib cage as I keep making the bones either too thin or too big which makes the rib cage too long or too wide.

Visual Arts Wk11 - 3 Point Perspective (Homework)

For the 3 point perspective drawing, I was stuck because as I was designing a concept of the drawing, I was mostly drawing skyscraper buildings which didn't look that interesting to me. So I wanted to do a simpler drawing to the 'Escher Staircase' drawing named 'Relativity' by M.C.Escher. If I were to improve on this drawing, I would put more effort into shading and the use of guidelines.

Visual Arts Wk11 - Life Model Drawing Female 2 (Classwork)

Using Marker (Fine Nip)

This has help me improve on the idea of using key-frames for story-boarding and animation. Each figure is around 1 minute. While at some point of the drawing I messed up, I made it up by making it look like she is doing a bending motion.

Using Ink (Brush and Ink)

This silhouette ink drawing is one of my better ink drawings however, it does not fill the whole page. I will need to get a more bigger brush so I can spend less time filling out the figure.

Using Charcoal (Conte)

My first time drawing of a human face and I like how to tried out. What helped me understand is from Nelson's demonstration of how he draws a human face. I would need to however, work on both the eyes and nose as the eyes are too dark while the nose looks 2D.

Visual Arts Wk10 - 2 Point Perspective Drawing (Homework)

When I first drew 2 point perspective drawing, I made the drawing too big for the A3 sized paper and got confused. For this drawing, I originally wanted to used marker and pencil but, I felt it was too grey for a forest and wanted to add some colour so I decided to use brush markers and water colour instead. As I was drawing, my brush markers started to run out of ink so I had to change how I shaded. I do like what I did to the background as the tree was far away, it got lighter. I would like to improve on how I shade my shadows since most of the shading does not make any sense.

Visual Arts Wk10 - Life Model Drawing Male 2 (Classwork)

Using Charcoal (Conte)

This was one of my best charcoal drawing throughout the lesson. I feel like I've improve from my last life drawing session. I would however like to improve on drawing the face and work on timing.

Using Marker (Fine Nip)

Last life drawing session, I used a broad nip which help me get the idea of how to draw with marker. However, I feel like this drawing does not match the proportion of the model such as the left arm is too low.

Using Marker (Fine Nip)

The proportions in this marker drawing are better and it shows improvement, I would however like to draw less lines so the drawing does not look messy and distorted. Also, to work on timing so I can add shading to the figure.

Visual Arts Wk9 - 1 Point Perspective Drawing (Homework)

Originally I didn't understand the concept of point perspective drawing and had difficult however, after this drawing, I finally understand that they are used as guidelines to make the drawing more 3 Dimensional. Also, this has help improved on my shading as it is not as dark then my previews drawings.

Visual Arts Wk9 - Life Model Drawing Male (Classwork)

Using Charcoal (Conte)

This was a massive improve from last lesson's life drawing. I now feel more confident in using charcoal and showing more expression through drawing. I would however like to improve on shadow and lighting.

Using Charcoal (Conte)

Similar to the first drawing, this has help improve in my confidence, posture, perspective and proportion of life drawing. I would however like to also improve on my speed and timing of a drawing.

Using Marker (Broad Nip)

From last week's life drawing, this is a huge improvement of using markers. However, due to lack of time, I was not able to finish shading certain parts of the drawing such as the upper arms and head. I would improve on my speed and timing however.
